Carrbridge closed

Despite warnings it's thought that large lorries are at least partly responsible for the collapse of the famous bridge at Carrbridge.

It's not known as to when the council might repair the structure but it's thought that they'll do so by chucking a few rocks in the river as they did at Nairn harbour.

Meanwhile the village will just be known as Carr and traffic will face lengthy diversions.

The bridge was the oldest in the Highlands and its demise is a sad historical loss to the region.
